What this page covers

This policy describes what data this website collects, why, how long it is kept and who else sees it. It covers dnexposer.com and the forms on it. It does not cover other sites we link to, which have their own policies.

What we collect, and why

When you contact us

The contact form and the enquiry form on a domain listing collect your name, your email address, the subject of your request and your message. Enquiries on a listing also record which domain they concern. We collect this to answer you, and we cannot answer without it.

Alongside the message we store the IP address and browser user agent of the request, and the page it was sent from. That is not for marketing: it is what allows us to identify automated submissions and abuse, which is also the only thing it is used for.

When you subscribe to the newsletter

Subscribing stores your email address, the date, and a confirmation token sent to that address. Nothing is sent to you until you click the link in that email: an address entered by someone else does not subscribe you.

Every email includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately and without asking why. When you unsubscribe, we keep the record of it rather than deleting the address, so that a later import cannot resubscribe you. That record is the only thing keeping your choice effective.

When you browse

We record aggregate audience measurement through Google Analytics: pages viewed, approximate location, device and referring source. This tells us which articles are read and which are not. It is not used to build a profile of you, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

We also count article and listing views in our own database. That counter stores no personal data: it is a number attached to a page, not to a person.

Cookies

This site does not set a cookie merely because you visited a page. Cookies appear in three cases only:

• Session cookie. Set when a form needs protection against cross-site request forgery, and when an administrator signs in. It is strictly necessary for those functions to work.
• reCAPTCHA. Google sets cookies to distinguish a person from a robot on our forms. They come from Google, not from us.
• Analytics. Google Analytics sets measurement cookies when analytics is enabled.

Third parties

• Our hosting provider stores the site and its database and keeps standard server logs.
• Google receives data through reCAPTCHA on our forms and through Google Analytics, under its own privacy terms.
• Our email provider transmits the messages we send, including newsletter emails and replies to your enquiries.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not trade contact details with anyone. We may disclose data where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Messages: kept while the enquiry is open and afterwards as a record of the exchange. Ask us and we will delete yours.
• Newsletter: kept until you unsubscribe, then kept as a record of that choice, as explained above.
• Anti-abuse records: IP addresses recorded for rate limiting and failed sign-in attempts are short-lived and cleared on a rolling basis.
• Server and application logs: retained for a limited period and then deleted automatically.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to us from the address concerned, using the contact page or the email address at the bottom of this page, and say what you are asking for.

Deleting your data ends any exchange in progress: if you ask us to delete an enquiry we are in the middle of answering, we will no longer have the thread.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, including rights available to California residents. Those rights apply whether or not they are listed here.

Children

This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. A change that affects what we collect or who receives it will be described rather than slipped in.
